FISA.. Special Comment

Keith Olbermann has the best follow up "Special Comment" on FISA.

Was that lead in the best since Keith berated Rumsfeld? DAMN SON!
a little excerpt..

"In a presidency of hypocrisy — an administration of exploitation — a labyrinth of leadership — in which every vital fact is a puzzle inside a riddle wrapped in an enigma hidden under a claim of executive privilege supervised by an idiot — this one… is surprisingly easy.

President Bush has put protecting the telecom giants from the laws… ahead of protecting you from the terrorists.

He has demanded an extension of the FISA law — the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act — but only an extension that includes retroactive immunity for the telecoms who helped him spy on you."

Much more in the middle and all very worthy of your time but for this post I'll skip to the juicy end..

"This is not a choice of protecting the telecoms from prosecution, or protecting the people from terrorists, sir.

It is a choice of protecting the telecoms from prosecution, or pretending to protect the people from terrorists.

Sorry, Mr. Bush. The eavesdropping provisions of FISA have obviously had no impact on counter-terrorism, and there is no current or perceived terrorist threat, the thwarting of which could hinge on an e-mail or a phone call going through room 641-A at AT&T in San Francisco next week or next month.

Because if there were, Mr. Bush, and you were to, by your own hand, veto an extension of this eavesdropping, and some terrorist attack were to follow, you would not merely be guilty of siding with the terrorists, you would not merely be guilty of prioritizing the telecoms over the people, you would not merely be guilty of stupidity, you would not merely be guilty of treason… but you would be personally, and eternally, responsible.

And if there is one thing we know about you, Mr. Bush, one thing that you have proved time and time again under any and all circumstances, it is that you are never responsible."

Good stuff!
I have to admit that lately I haven't watched much MSNBC because of the way the media has perverted this election. I'm referring to the debates and the way they (NBC, MSNBC, ABC & CNN) played favorites with the candidates.
The exclusion of Kucinich for me was the worse. They trivialized the only candidate that represented real change not just words. That threat to the parent companies of this corrupted media lead to Kucinichs demise. None of the big three dems spoke up or rocked the boat so to speak and shortly thereafter we said goodbye to Mr. Edwards also.
Now I guess the talking heads will throw rocks at the leftovers.

Let Down by the Senate...Again..

The Senate again failed miserably to protect the people and our Constitution.
The FISA bill from the Judiciary Committee would have taken HUGE steps in finally someone somewhere holding the White House accountable for the breaking the law.
But no, they neutered that one only to push the Intelligence Committee(now that's an oxymoron) version which was lame in the first place.

So here is the deal.. another ACTION ALERT..link to Firedoglake.
Sign the petition that tells Congress to push the RESTORE ACT thru NOW!

At the bottom of the petition is a place for your comment and here is mine..
"We are at a crucial turning point.
The current administration has ignored the oath of office repeatedly and without consequence.
It is up to you to defend our rights and the Constitution as the oath of office dictates.
Please do not fail us as miserably as the current administration and the Senate has already done.
Justice must be served now!
Either you are going to be part of the solution or you are part of the problem. "

ps..
here is another ACTION ALERT !
I have signed some petitions(impeach bush/cheney, no drilling in the Arctic, etc..) and because of that I get email updates with action alerts.
I received one from the care2 petition site in regards to a bill sponsored by Lieberman-Warner. As soon as I saw Lieberman's name; well you know; red flags and shit.
This bill is another classic misnomer "America's Climate Security Act".
Does this ring any bells like "No Child Left Behind" or "The Patriot Act"or "The Clean Skies Initiative", well you get the picture.
A bill with a name that promotes the exact opposite.
A "bizarro" bill it is and this one would provide BILLIONS for more nuclear power!
So if you see a petition that supports "America's Climate Security Act", just say NO.
Here is a link to more info and the RIGHT petition to shoot this thing down.

What if ?

I have tried to watch the debates (both sides) and have found it very difficult.
Either the format and moderators are screwed up or the candidates are.
Sometimes it's the moderators pandering to a favorite or being antagonistic with absurd questions that seem more personal and less about any of the important issues. And they really need better clocks because it doesn't appear the moderators know or even care about equal time for each candidate.
Tim Russert comes off like he's mad and the questions seem leading, loaded or like he's just trying to start something with "he said, she said" crap.
Chris Matthews come off like a sophomoric douchbag.
Wolf Blitzer is just weak. No timing, no cohones and he needs to go back out in the field to find a real journalist.
And then there is CNN with "Clean Coal" ads... It's like salt on a wound... OY!

Don't get me started with them excluding candidates. That one really pisses me off when they start deciding who is "viable"! It's a little depressing to see the MSM and the parent companies get away with manipulating our democratic process without repercussions.

I'm really sorry Kucinich is gone as he was the one candidate that I felt would make some REAL progressive changes. I'm also sorry to see Edwards and Dodd leave as they may been my second and third choices.

I absolutly don't want to continue this dynasty of Bush, Clinton, Bush and another Clinton. It doesn't feel right and not what I look for in regards to progressive change. I see Hillary as a corporate democrat or republican-lite.

Watching the republicans; especially McCain; beating the war drums and how every point made has to framed with fear makes me think he is delusional and needs help. I'm glad to see Rudy and Fred gone. Rudy's never ending 9/11 babble got old fast and Fred just came off like a dullard.
McCain is a little scary from a war mongering neocon angle and Huckabee has that crazy look in his eye of a religious fanatic and that also scares me.

What if before they start these screwed up campaigns and waste all that money, these folks should have to complete a physiological profile to determine if they are insane.
It might save alot of time and money.
And in the case of the Bush/Cheney cabal, could have saved some LIVES!
