60 DAYS
It has been sixty days since the explosion of Deepwater Horizon and there is still no end in sight to the oil spewing into the Gulf. Already regarded as one of the worst ecological disasters but until it's stopped we haven't seen the worst.
In 1969 in the Santa Barbara Channel an oil spill that lasted ten days with an estimated 80-100k barrels of crude released.
In 1979 another Gulf Coast event brought to you by BP was the IXTOC blowout. It was capped some 10 months later after releasing approximately 3 million barrels of crude into the Gulf.
In 1989 the EXXON Valdez tanker hit a reef in Prince William Sound Alaska releasing an estimated 750,000 barrels of crude with devastating consequences that can still be observed today.
Do you see a pattern here?
What will it take to get through to the dumbest politicians in Washington that we have to STOP OFFSHORE DRILLING NOW?
Over & over again there are politicians that stand out because they stand up and repeat the same lies one after the other. I'm talking about the corporate whores that serve at the pleasure of Big Oil and have no compunction telling you that we have to drill everywhere to reduce our dependence of foreign oil. This is absolute bullshit. Energy independence, Oy!...
